Happy New Year to you if you’re reading this post. May 2013 be the year that all your dreams come true!
Sally & Ash’s countryside wedding at Bix Manor near Henley-on’Thames, was my 3rd last wedding of 2012 and it was such a perfect day. We had sunshine (quite rare nowadays), a beautiful venue and lots of personal touches which Sally & Ash brought together to help make the day memorable. I personally loved Bix Manor House where Sally & the girls got dressed on the morning of the wedding – a perfect setting for bridal prep, with the house all to yourself. Sally looked beautiful in her wedding gown and white winter coat, not forgetting her super cool cowboy boots (a steal on ebay). Ash made a dashing groom, rocking his cool tattoos, antique pocket watch and skull cuff links. As a drummer in his own band (The Boston Brew) he was always going to be a ‘rocking’ groom! :-)
The short walk down the country lane to the church (Bix St. James) was lovely and Sally & her bridesmaids attracted quite a bit of attention from passing motorists. As the sun set we made the most of the remaining light with some fun & romantic couple portraits outside the barn and the happy couple looked like film stars, leaning against the wedding car – a Ford Zephyr (Ash used to own one and was pleasantly surprised when one just like it turned up at his hotel to drive him to the church that morning – a surprise from Sally).
I loved the little details in the barn – from the candy bar as you walked in, to the amazing portraits of each & every guest specially painted by Sally’s bridesmaid Cat, to the beautiful table decorations with a slight music theme: vinyl table numbers on drumsticks. Sally & Ash wanted a natural & relaxed feel to their wedding day – much like a dinner party and they definitely succeeded. Their guests dined by candle light in the beautiful barn and as one designated guest per table served the soup starter (a Bix Manor wedding tradition), we said our goodbyes. A big thank you to Yolande for the cool shots of Ash & the guys at Hotel du Vin on the morning of the wedding.
Here are some of my favourite images from the day. Enjoy!
