For the love of flower crowns!

What is it about wearing a flower crown that makes you feel so beautiful, girly and let’s face it…a little bit magical? Maybe it’s the little girl in each of us, lying in field daydreaming without a care in the world. Flowers in your hair and the sun on your face. Bliss…

I went to an wedding event at Ice Tank Studios in Covent Garden recently, where Wildabout Flowers had a “DIY flower crown” station. At first it was a little bit daunting, the idea of creating my own flower crown that would actually look half decent and stay on my head, but once I got going, I couldn’t stop! Yes it took me nearly an hour to make just one flower crown, but it was worth it! With the guidance of the lovely Wildabout ladies, I created something I would actually wear…everyday! Here it is:

Not bad for a first go, right? I like the fact that it came out slightly unstructured and a little bit wild…probably more by accident than design!

So with Spring on the way (hurry up!) and Bohemian Chic being one of the wedding trends for 2015, today’s post is a little tribute to some of the pretty flower crowns I’ve photographed in the past. Worn by brides, model brides, flower girls and bridesmaids, they all looked stunning and added some ‘flower power’ to these looks!

I encourage any and all brides to consider wearing a flower crown on your big day. You only get married once, right? ;-)

Here are a few of my favourites.

Enjoy!

And sometimes a flower crown can be more of a foliage crown! I loved the simplicity of this crown

and it went perfectly with the model’s fishtail braid. Also created by Blue Sky Flowers.

I’m a big fan of flower crowns for bridesmaids and flower girls and Carys’ flower girl looked

adorable in her little rose crown. Created by Beckie-Lou of Bosham. See more of this

The above flower crown is probably one of my favourite ones I’ve ever shot. Love the vibrant colour and

the fresh berries. Perfect for a forest bride! Created by Grace from Bramble & Wild – Flower Emporium. See more

here.

And sometimes a faux flower crown can look just as amazing as a real one! I love how

dainty the one above is and how amazing it looks with a simple hairstyle and beautiful make up.

Headband by Victoria Millesime. See more from this shoot here.

The above flower crown is a great example of using flowers as your only accessories on the

wedding day. For a more relaxed look, all you need is loose curls and flowers in your hair, along with

a gorgeous bouquet! This crown was created by Jodie from Boutique Blooms. See more of the shoot here.

I love the above purple floral half crown. It’s vibrant, bold and something different! Created by Gayle from

Bloomingayles.

"Great-Fosters-Flower-girl"

How cute is this flower girl with her sweet Gypsophila flower crown? She didn’t want to take it off

all day and I bet she felt like a princess wearing it! Created by Flowers by Eve.

This last faux flower crown added a Boho touch to this vintage bridesmaids dress from Maids to Measure.

Just gorgeous.
