Back in November 2011, I went home to Johannesburg for a much needed 3 week break! While I was there I managed to spend loads of time with my family in Jo’burg, Durban & Pretoria and I also had time to do two couple shoots – one for Christelle & Dawid (who you’ll meet shortly) and one for my dad and his partner Bev. I love doing couple shoots – looking back at all the couple & engagement shoots from 2011, I can honestly say that pre-wedding and other couple shoots are definitely one of the highlights of being a wedding photographer. I get to spend time with the couple in a relaxed environment, chatting away – sometimes over a glass of wine…of and of course we take a few photos as well!
For Christelle & Dawid’s couple shoot we started off at Service Station – an uber cool cafe in very arty suburb Melville. Melville used to be my old stomping ground as I went to Uni at the University of Johannesburg, just around the corner, so it was great to do a shoot there after all these years. The Service Station is one of Christelle & Dawid’s favourite cafes and very near to where they live in Greenside. It made the perfect setting for some relaxed photos of Christelle & Dawid over a glass of wine on a lazy Sunday afternoon. For the second part of our shoot we took their gorgeous dog, Jack (wearing a very swanky red tie) for a walk. I love Greenside – it’s very ‘old Johannesburg’ and the streets were lined with beautiful Jacaranda trees in bloom – a perfect setting for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
It was great spending time with Christelle & Dawid and meeting Jack. Thanks again for the glass of wine and spending your Sunday afternoon with me guys.
Here are a few of my favourite photos from our afternoon together:
