There is something so special about Middleton Lodge in August. The Walled Garden is in full, wild bloom, the sun lingers just a little longer, and the whole estate feels like a private Mediterranean escape right in North Yorkshire. When Francesca – a fellow photographer – reached out to me, and asked me to be their Middleton Lodge Wedding Photographer, I knew this day was going to be a dream! There’s a certain level of trust that comes when another creative asks you to tell their story, and for me, it’s all about making sure they can finally step out from behind the lens and just be present.
Francesca and Carl’s vision was the definition of laid-back luxury: a high-fashion, black-tie aesthetic that felt completely relaxed, warm, and intentional. Exactly my kind of wedding!

The Ceremony: Blooms, bow ties, and their adorable dog Sage
The day kicked off in the Walled Garden with an outdoor ceremony. It was a perfect mix of sharp tuxedos and the soft, romantic textures of the summer garden. Francesca was a vision in her first look- a sleek, modern Alexandra Grecco gown that felt very “editorial-meets-effortless.”
Of course, the real star of the show was Sage, their pup, who joined the wedding and made sure the “family” photos were extra cute. (I’m a huge advocate for bringing your dog to your wedding – they always bring the best energy!)

The Vibe: Dinner in the Fig House
After the “I dos,” and a fabulous cocktail hour in the walled garden featuring a champagne tower (my favourite), everyone moved to the Fig House for an intimate dinner. Instead of scattered tables, they opted for one long, dramatic banquet table. It felt so inclusive and stylish – like a grand dinner party with your closest favorite people.

The evening was a masterclass in how to do a “modern wedding” justice:
- The second look: Francesca changed into a stunning Prea James Bridal party dress for the party -minimalist, chic, and perfect for dancing.
- The sweet stuff: A decadent dessert station that was a complete crowd-pleaser and almost too pretty to eat! ;-)
- The energy: A live band (The Showband) kept the dance floor buzzing from the first note – always helpful to get great dancing photos.

A spark in the night
We wrapped up the celebrations under a canopy of fireworks. Capturing Francesca and Carl take a moment away from the crowd to watch the display was the perfect finale to a day that was as soulful as it was stylish.
Francesca and Carl, thank you for letting me be more than just your Middleton Lodge Wedding Photographer – for letting me be a part of the party. It was a joy to capture your story. Want to know what Francesca & Carl thought about working with me? Click here for the full Google review.
