Last June I jetted off to Italy, to shoot a wedding at Castello di Vincigliata in Fiesole, Florence, with my friend and incredibly talented wedding photographer Kylee Yee. We always have a great time and shooting a wedding together was so much fun! Make sure you head to Kylee’s blog, here for the full post.
Castello di Vincigliata wedding photographer:
The day itself was perfect in every way – we had gorgeous weather and K&M and their guests were such a pleasure to spend the day with.
As far as destination weddings go, this was one of my favourites. Castello di Vincigliata is an incredible setting for an outdoor wedding in Tuscany, overlooking Florence. As a medieval castle dating back as far as the year 1031, it is steeped in history and being able to photograph a wedding here, is an incredible blessing.
The beautiful ceremony took place in the courtyard, followed by the cocktail reception on the terrace in the garden, overlooking the rolling hills of Tuscany and the city of Florence in the distance. It doesn’t get much more scenic than this. K&M definitely knocked the socks off their guests with their Tuscan castle wedding!
Destination wedding reception at Castello di Vincigliata:
After the meal, guests were treated to the cutting of the traditional Italian Mille Feuille wedding cake in the garden (which had been handmade by the chef a few minutes earlier). K&M opened the dance floor with a very romantic first dance and we left them to party the night away under the stars, with their wedding guests.
It was an absolute pleasure to shoot this wedding and hopefully it won’t be too long before we return to the rolling hills of Tuscany.
A big thank you to Kylee for inviting me along on this adventure and to Rick for navigating the steep hills of Fiesole in a tiny Fiat with almost no engine power! ;-)
Here are a few of my favourites from the day.
Enjoy!
Let’s face it, there aren’t any bad spots for photos at Castello di Vincigliata!
K’s chic Alice Temperley dress. Perfect for a summer wedding in Tuscany.
I fell head over heels in love (excuse the pun) with K’s hot pink Dior wedding shoes. Every girl needs
a pair of these in her closet, no?
Loved the vibrant colour scheme for the wedding and K’s hydrangea, peony and rose bouquet.
Nothing beats a dashing groom in a beautifully cut tuxedo. M and the guys definitely had an ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ vibe
happening. Suave & cool as cucumbers, despite the heat!
The view from the garden terrace at Castello di Vincigliata. Magnifico.
Emiliana from Amoretti Weddings helping the guys with their colourful boutonnieres.
I love these two images, just married and ecstatically happy! :-)
Seriously? How adorable are these two??
Hilarious and emotional wedding speeches, always fun to photograph.
Castello di Vincigliata is even more beautiful at night.
Cutting of the traditional Italian Mille Feuille wedding cake, which had been made from scratch in front of
our very eyes, a few minutes before this photo was taken.
