“Ashley and I are blown away by your photos! We love them. Thank you so much, we have both been in tears whilst taking a look!!”
Ashley & Tracey tied the knot a few days before Christmas and invited me to capture the day for them. I’ve been to Rye before and have shot at The George in Rye quite a few times, but this was my first wedding at this gorgeous boutique hotel & wedding venue, so needless to say, I was very excited!
Tracey & I met up a few weeks before the wedding to chat about the day and as soon as she mentioned that she’d be wearing a red cashmere jacket and a hat with pheasant feathers, I knew the day would be styled to perfection! Tracey is a very talented graphic designer and designed their gorgeous wedding invitation suite and quirky table plan which you’ll see in the post.
Rye & Cambersands have always had a special place in Tracey’s family’s hearts as they used to spend summers on the beach and her dad used to hunt pheasant in the area. I loved seeing how Ashley & Tracey’s plans all came together in the gorgeous Ballroom at The George, with red berries, pheasant feathers and Christmas lights creating a stylish winter wedding. The theme was loosely created around ‘quirky English country meets Africa’ (a nod to Ashley’s African roots) and Tracey designed table names where each table had a wild animal dressed in a smart human outfit. A very elegant way of incorporating an animal theme into the day.
Their ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church in Rye, a short walk from The George and afterwards they enjoyed mulled wine and canapes with their guests in the Benson Room back at the hotel. I was only there until the end of the speeches but it was lovely catching the warm moments between them and their guests over dinner. As a wedding gift for Ashley, Tracey had commissioned an sculptor to create a smaller version of an art piece they both love and surprised Ashley during her speech. So special and a gorgeous piece of art!
Ashley & Tracey, it was an absolute pleasure capturing your cozy winter wedding. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world.
Below is just a small selection of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!
I adore this photo of Tracey with her dad before they left for church. So sweet.
St. Mary’s in Rye. A beautiful church with so much light! Just gorgeous.
A confetti exit during gale force winds…always fun! ;-)
The George is a must visit at Christmas time – so many cozy nooks & crannies to relax in.
