On the 2nd of January I set off to Lympne Castle in Kent to photograph Amy & Steve’s wonderful winter wedding and also my first wedding for 2012! It was a perfect day – sunshine & blue skies from early morning, right through until the last group photo outisde on the terrace. When I photographed Amy & Steve’s Engagement Shoot around Embankment last year, I had the opportunity to get to know them a little bit. Having travelled the world together and then planned most of their wedding from Dubai, they moved back to the UK in August last year and couldn’t wait to get married in January 2012. I still love the little story Amy told me about how they met and finally ended up together, here it is in her own words:
Steve and I met at school, and Steve was my first kiss at the age of 14 yrs! Of course, as teenagers do, we broke up the next week! 12 years later, we reunited…I had returned from Australia where I was nursing for a year, and Steve returned from Thailand where he was diving, and it was love at first sight. Our whirlwind romance started in London, and we then moved to New Zealand for a year, followed by a year living in Dubai. Steve proposed to me at the top of a mountain in Sri Lanka in January 2011 and it was amazing. We have since moved back to London and I’m nursing at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Sigh…isn’t that just lovely? Having seen Steve’s face light up when Amy came walking down the aisle towards him and the way they didn’t let go of each other all day, I would say it’s still love, but at every sight! I spent a fantastic day with Amy, Steve, their friends and family and Lympne Castle was a fantastic wedding venue. To top it all off, Amy’s dad had surprised her with two reindeer & a sleigh to take her from the cottage down to the Great Hall where they had the ceremony. Her face when she walked out of the cottage and saw the reindeer, was priceless and so was Steve’s when they were whisked away for a few minutes after their blessing in St. Stephen’s church!
Amy & Steve, thanks again for a lovely day and sharing it with me. I wish you all the love and happiness in the world! Here are (quite) a few of my favourite photos from the day.
{Feel free to leave some love for Amy, Steve and the two adorable reindeer in the comment box if you’re stopping by!}
And yes…that was indeed Ben Mills from X Factor singing in the 8th last photo!
