On the 25th of September (in exactly 13 days) I will be taking part in the Run to the Beat Half Marathon, sponsored by Nike this year. This is the same half marathon I took part in, in September 2009 and finished in 2 hours and 32 minutes – knackering but so worth it! Nothing comes close to crossing the finishing line and feeling the waves of adrenaline wash over you, realising that you’ve done it! Needless to say, I was fast asleep half an hour later!
Why am I talking about this on my website?? Well, this year I will be taking part in the race again, but this time my goal is to make a difference in the lives of abandoned, neglected and abused children in South Africa. By taking part in the race, I am raising money for Abraham Kriel Childcare – a childcare charity based in South Africa. Having visited one of their campuses before, during a trip home to South Africa, I found myself profoundly touched by the extent to which Abraham Kriel changes the lives of children who otherwise would not have had a chance in life. It is their passion to ensure optimal development of traumatised children in need of care – a wonderful and life changing passion and definitely one that I want to get on board with!
Whether you are a regular visitor to my website / stopping by for the first time – if you would like to spur me on during the 13 miles / 21km and support a fantastic cause, please feel free to make a donation by clicking on this link:

Every little helps! For example:
– Just R99 provides breakfast – a bowl of porridge for a child every day for one whole month! That’s only £9
– Just R110 provides one child with the daily bread needed for sandwiches for school, for one whole month! That’s only £10
– Just R118 provides a child with the opportunity to learn to read & write, for one whole month! That’s only £10.27
So far I have raised R3,700 (thank you to everyone who has donated already)! My goal is to get to R10,000! Let’s do this!
Thank you so much for stopping by and if you do decide to get onboard with this amazing cause, like I have, please don’t forget to drop me an email on anneli@marinovich.co.uk so I can send you a HUGE thank you!
